Special Education

Every three (3) years, each school district must develop and submit to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) a Special Education Plan, which becomes a part of the Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan, which encompasses Academic Standards and Assessment, Professional Education, Teacher Induction, Special Education, Educational Technology, and Student Services into one, will guide our continuous improvement efforts to identify future goals and improve educational opportunities and achievement for all students.

The Special Education Plan (draft) must be made available for public inspection and comment for 28 days, and then it can be approved by the school entity’s governing board, prior to submission to PDE. The timeline for submission and approval of the Special Education plan is as follows:

Superintendent Review: March 15, 2016

28 Day Public Review [Website; Copy of draft available for review in District Administrative Office]: March 17, 2016

Board Approval of the Plan: April 25, 2016

Deadline for Submission to PDE: May 1, 2016
