ART LESSON PLAN

SUBJECT: TWELVE COLOR WHEEL

GRADE: FIFTH

 

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Learn primary, secondary, and intermediate colors.
  2. Create a twelve color wheel using tempera paint and the primary colors.
  3. Learn and use proper classroom painting procedures.

MATERIALS:

Tempera paint, brushes, water containers, paper towels, blank color wheels.

MOTIVATION:

Learning and using the color wheel is one of the foundations of making art. Through the discussion and creation of a color wheel the students will learn how to make colors and use them effectively in their art.

PROCEDURE:

TEACHER DEMONSTRATION: Gather Students

STUDENT PROCEDURES:

After demonstrations are complete the students will return to their seats and begin working. Students will be permitted to work at their own pace until finished.

EVALUATION:

Evaluation of this lesson is completely objective. Students must create the correct colors and place them in the correct place. Additional consideration will be given to technical skill.
