Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
First, I want to say Welcome to our new Kindergarten students and any other new students to our district, I am so happy to have you with us! I also want to say welcome back to all of our returning students. This year, we are so fortunate to have TWO elementary school counselors; Mr. Brocious and myself. I will be primarily working with students in grades K-3 and Mr. Brocious will be primarily working with students in grades 4-6. However, we are both happy to see any of the students at WHES!
For those of you that do not know me, I am Ms. Deist, the elementary school counselor. This will be my 7th year at Westmont Hilltop Elementary School. Prior to working for Westmont Hilltop, I was a school counselor for Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland for 4 years. I attended Chatham University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned a Master of Education degree in School Counseling.
My goal is to support all students in the areas of academics, career and social/emotional. I provide classroom guidance lessons to all students. Small support groups and individual counseling are available to all students as well. I am a part of many clubs and organizations within the school that helps support students including MTSS, PBIS, attendance team and SAP. I am also the 504 coordinator for the elementary school. If you have concerns, please fill out the SAP referral that can be found under parents>parent resources> SAP referral.
