These scholarships, along with the Community Foundation Scholarships, make up the majority of awards presented at the Academic Award Assembly.

Loans & GrantsFAFSA Financial Aid Filing for Next School Year Now Available
In addition to scholarships, you may complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application opens on October 1st for seniors who plan to enter college next Fall of 2023. Completing the FAFSA is not a commitment to borrow money for college, rather, it allows you to see what you/your child would be offered in terms of loans and grants/scholarships. Pennsylvania American Legion Essay Contest
Open to any student in grades 9-12 who is enrolled in a Pennsylvania school.  Essay is between 500-1000 words on a topic chosen by the committee.  This year’s Essay Contest title is:  “What does Americanism mean to me?”  Essays must be turned into the counseling office by January 5, 2023.  Additional information is available in the counseling office or online at http://pa-legion.com/programs/student-programs/First place winner will be awarded $3500.00.ce winner will be awarded $3500.00.

 

 

 

PA American Legion High School Oratorical Contest
Open to any student in grades 9-12 who is enrolled in a Pennsylvania School.  Consists of two parts, one a memorized oration and an extemporary oration on an assigned topic.  The topics can be found at www.legion.org/oratorical/topics. Applications are available in the counseling office or online at
http://pa-legion.com/programs/student-programs/Students must submit an application to a local Post for sponsorship by December 4, 2022.  First prize is $7500.00.
