METER – Is the regular pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables that make up a line of poetry
RHYTHM – PATTERN ASSOCIATED WITH FLOW OF THE LINES OF POETRY
INTERNAL RHYME – a word in the middle of a line of poetry rhymes with the word at the end of the line
FOOT – foot is a basic unit of a meter. In English, a metrical foot normally contains either two or three syllables
ALLITERATION – The effect created when words with the same initial letter (usually consonants) are used in close proximity
END RHYME – RHYME THAT OCCURS AT THE END OF A LINE OF POETRY
CONSONANCE – The effect created when words share the same stressed consonant sounds but where the vowels differ
SYMBOL – Words or images that signify more than they literally represent
SLANT RHYME – NON-EXACT RHYME – PLAY ON SIMILAR NOT EXACT SOUNDS
PERSONIFICATION – Figure of speech whereby inanimate objects or abstractions are given human characteristics
