Fall Sports Season in Full Swing at Westmont Hilltop

The fall sports season is going strong at Westmont Hilltop, and our Hilltopper student-athletes are currently hitting the gridiron, pitch, court, course, and links representing our district in six different exciting sports in the extremely competitive Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference.

These events are held at several indoor and outdoor venues, with contests in the afternoon and evening, so there is something for everyone who wants to come out and support our Hilltoppers.

CROSS COUNTRY

Our varsity co-ed cross-country runners are guided by coach Mike Harchick.  The Hilltoppers’ cross country course begins and ends at the Junior-Senior High School, and the meets start at 4:30 p.m.

FOOTBALL

Varsity, junior varsity, and junior high football home games are played at the newly renovated Price Field at 827 Diamond Boulevard.  Coach Pat Barron’s varsity team plays under the 7 p.m. Friday Night Lights for the first time in school history this season, with the exception of our 2022 Homecoming Game on Saturday, September 24 against visiting Penn Cambria at 1 p.m.  Junior varsity games take place on Monday afternoons at 4 p.m., with 7th grade, 8th grade, and junior high contests being held on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday afternoons.

GIRLS TENNIS

The Westmont Hilltop tennis courts, located at the Junior-Senior High School, are where coach Dan Fregly’s varsity girls compete.  Matches begin at 4 p.m. on weekdays.

GOLF

The beautiful and world-renowned Sunnehanna Country Club course hosts our Hilltopper varsity golfers.  Coach Rob Patula guides a squad that participates in a mix of co-ed and girls-only matches.  Tee time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

SOCCER

The Hilltopper varsity boys and girls soccer squads, led by coaches Jason Hughes and Curt Lichtenfels, split their contests between Price Field and the soccer pitch located adjacent to the Westmont Hilltop Junior-Senior High School at 200 Fair Oaks Drive.  There is a mix of both afternoon and evening contests on various days of the week, so please consult the online schedules for exact dates and times.  Junior High soccer matches are held in the afternoon.

VOLLEYBALL

Coach Denise Nairn’s varsity girls' volleyball team competes at the Westmont Hilltop Junior-Senior high school gymnasium.  The contests begin at 6 p.m. with the first serve of the junior varsity match, and the varsity contest immediately following.

ADMISSION

Hilltopper sports are a very affordable form of entertainment.  The only fall activities with admission fees are varsity football and varsity volleyball, which charge $5 per adult ticket.  Westmont Hilltop students and children are able to attend for free.

VIP passes that provide free admission for those Westmont Hilltop fans age 62 and over are available by request through the Hilltopper athletic office at 814-255-8730 or by e-mailing the athletic department secretary Kathy Buday at [email protected]

SAFETY PROTOCOLS FOR FANS

We strive to provide a safe and secure environment at our athletic facilities for all in attendance.  Therefore, no bags, backpacks, or purses are allowed to be brought into our venues.  Bags containing medical supplies or equipment are permitted but are subject to examination.

Our younger fans are not permitted to bring any balls to our events as well, in order to avoid potential disruption of the contest taking place and to enhance the safety of those attending.

SCHEDULES

The district encourages all fans to come out and support the Hilltopper student-athletes in both home and away contests.  Complete schedules for all Westmont Hilltop athletic events are available at www.westmontsports.org
