Letter from the Director of Development
I was a junior-year Hilltopper when my family moved to Kentucky in 1989. One can imagine that at 16 years old, I hated to leave my hometown. Afterall, I was thriving at Life with my Westmont comrades!
Life turned out more than OK. I have lived in many cities, developed a craft in marketing, brand strategy and business relationship management among other things. I found myself back in Johnstown in late 2024, a Westmont resident again, passing through familiar alleys and citing my favorite houses all over again.
The irony is that 35 years later, I am writing to you from within the walls and halls of my alma mater, dressed as the Director of Development for the Westmont Hilltop School District and the Westmont Hilltop Education Foundation, and I couldn’t be happier to share the news.
My goal at Westmont is to develop growth scenarios for the school district. I firmly believe that our potential is limitless when it comes to what we can accomplish for the school community. We will work intelligently, stay creative always, and maintain persistence in our efforts. It will take work, and that’s the point. It will be fun, and that’s probably the best part. That’s right – this so-called work is a joy!
As a fellow Hilltopper, I wonder... What visions do you have for future Hilltoppers? What changes do you want to see?
I invite you to share with me your personal visions, Westmont stories, and general Westy fandom. I would love to hear from you.

STUDENT FUNDRAISING SUCCESS
The annual bid for Mini-THON deserves our attention! Raising funds to support childhood cancer through Four Diamonds, Westmont high school students surpassed their goal of $30,000 with donor gifts reaching over $42,000! These young fundraisers are learning the value of giving back, supporting a cause, and getting out there to ask for financial support. The kids make it look easy!

WHAT IS THE WH EDUCATION FOUNDATION?
You will be seeing this new logo around town.
Who are they? What do they DO?
The WH Education Foundation is an opportunity for parents, community members, business partners, and alumni to provide financial support for the benefit of students. The 'Hilltopper' Foundation consists of two distinct funds: Temporary Restricted Funds and Permanent Endowment. The WH Education Foundation was established for unrestricted funds in honor of our former superintendent, Dr. Carol Strange, who retired after twenty-six years of service to the district. Now, with a Development office in place, the intention is to grow and support the many groups who have been fundraising on their own with tools for marketing, donor management, tracking and most importantly, stewardship.
