Community Service & Smart Futures
Community Service
Students are required to complete 5 community service hours per year for graduation. This requirement is reinstated as of the 2022-2023 school year. Students are not expected to make up hours from years prior, when hours were waived due to COVID. A Community Service Form must be completed and signed for all hours. These can be picked up in English classes, the Counseling Office, or off the website.
Completed forms should be submitted to the student's English teacher. This form is accessible on the main website under the Forms tab.
Smart Futures
Smart Futures is the career planning program that Westmont uses to compile artifacts required by the state of Pennsylvania to earn their diploma (Chapter 339). Pennsylvania requires that all students graduate with a personalized career plan and portfolio that is tied to clearly defined K-12 career education benchmarks. These benchmarks, called the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Career Education and Work (CEW Standards) provide a curriculum road map that assures that all students are prepared for 21st century success. Smart Futures activities are completed in English classes each year. Completion is a graduation requirement.
